GRAND OPENING

APRIL 20, 2013

3:30 - 5:30

BCHS is pleased to present the first exhibit in our newly designated Wolf-Kuhn Foundation Gallery.  The 1893 World's Fair in Chicago was the grand opening of a new century of transportation, technology, and communication. The PRR building included a round house, and thousands of exhibits.  In 1926 the PRR gave over 300 items that had been displayed at the Exhibition to the Blair County Historical Society.  Through the generosity of the Wolf-Kuhn Foundation and the Pennsylvania HIstorical & Museum Commission we have been able to conserve 24 photographs.  Fifteen are now on display including views of the Johnstown Flood, the 1877 Pittsburgh Railroad Riots, the Allegheny Portage Railroad, and Bridges & Tunnels.  The exhibit will open April 19.  It will be open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.  Grand Opening Celebration Saturday April 20 from 3:30 - 5:30.
