HGR Recap 10/6 - We Welcome Band Guests We Came From Space!

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the October 6 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 9 to 11 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).

Thanks to this week’s guests, western PA-based musical adventurers We Came From Space (https://www.facebook.com/wecamefromspace), for giving us the exclusive for introducing their band and music to the world! We met the band members and learned their story, and spotlighted songs from their forthcoming debut CD, How to Be Human. Along the way, pulled a 1991 song by Dave Buzard’s (of We Came From Space) former band Ask A Stranger from the archive for this week’s “Local Music Flashback,” we debuted new songs by Bill Toms, JD Eicher & the Goodnights and The Old E Allstars, updated “Local Music News,” and reviewed Cloud Party’s The Dying Art of Living CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.”

Here is this week's playlist:

In Local Music News…

In band personnel news, Night Train has experienced some crew changes. Longtime drummer Tim Laney has left the band to spend more time with family. He has been replaced by Angelo Pompa. Long time lead guitarist Jared Carnevali has left due to work issues. His dad, Jerry has taken over lead, and his brother Jesse has taken over rhythm duties. However, both Tim and Jared will still occasionally fill in as needed.

Johnstown party rockers Yum will say farewell to one of their core members at the end of the month. Guitarist/singer Darren Buchko is leaving the group at the end of October to pursue other endeavors. His last appearance with Yum will happen on October 26 at Ace’s Lounge in Cambria City during the Halloween Bash with Yum, Ribbon Grass and Shades Of June. Yum is currently grooming a new guitarist to take Darren’s place starting in November; Ryan Krinjeck of Shades Of June will fill in for the interim.

Nanty Glo modern rockers One Adam 12 have finished work on their first official recording. The forthcoming 8-song EP is called Persistence Pays. The group will mark the disc’s official release with a CD release on October 26 at Jay’s Place in Ebensburg.
