Here is the recap of the January 5 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).
We finished slamming the door on 2013 with Part 2 of the “2013 Year in Review Special!” We resumed with July, and progressed our way through December, recalling the band personnel moves, group formations and breakups, special benefits and other shows, and recordings that impacted the area music scene during the latter half of the past year! And of course, we heard music from the bands and artists who helped shape the area music scene in 2013; including new tunes from NailDriver, One Adam 12, The Lux Republic and Angela Dodson! We also remembered departed music scene members Dave Blackledge and Gary Leighty; sharing Gary’s shredding skills on a performance with Zombies with Gunz, as well as his own studio project Bloody Fingers!

The “Homegrown Rocker” opens the door on 2014 next Sunday night with our first guest of the New Year, Pittsburgh area music meister and personality Tony Mollick! Tony has about 1,000 projects going on at the moment; we’ll try to zero in on a few of them, including new recording with Synesthesia, some blues-geared music, and even discussion about a possible Groove Junkies reunion! And tunes from One Night Stand and TMP can’t be ruled out! Along the way, we will update “Local Music News,” dig into the archive for a “Local Music Flashback,” and review Larry Nath’s latest CD, Visions and Revisions, in “The Professor’s CD Corner!”
