HGR recap 6/16/13 - Father's Day Special with guests Born and the Beanstalk!

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the June 16 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).

For Father’s Day, we again celebrated local and regional musical family traditions on the show with our Father’s Day Special! We explored family connections on the area music scene, and heard music spotlighting dads, moms, sons and daughters who grace area stages! We also thank two bands with musical family traditions – Born and the Beanstalk and 2nd Street – for being our guests. We spotlighted Born and the Beanstalk, learning their story and hearing recorded tracks from them during most of the program. 2nd Street joined us late, and will be next week’s guests!

Here is this week's playlist:

As mentioned above, 2nd Street will be our guests on next week’s program, part of their “winnings” for capturing first place in the recent “Battle of the Acoustics” competition at Northern Cambria’s City Hotel. We will get reacquainted with the band members, find out their latest happenings, and they will bring instruments and perform live! We will also update “Local Music News,” dig into the archive for a “Local Music Flashback,” and review Nowhere Slow’s Listen/Love CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” We welcome 2nd Street back on the show next Sunday night!
