With football season arriving shortly, we remind everybody that both Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99 carry Pittsburgh Steelers football, and due to the possibility of late-running Sunday afternoon games and programming, the “Homegrown Rocker” will move to its football season air time – one hour later – effective with the September 8 program. So throughout football season, the show will air from 9 to 11 p.m. (until the Steelers’ season has concluded). So the “Homegrown Rocker” will air one hour later starting September 8.

In Local Music News…
Just a few months after first debuting on area stages, Brand New Wings has been clipped. The group suddenly announced the cancellation of their shows this past week and that they were calling it quits immediately due to personal reasons. Several members are expected to introduce new band and solo projects in the months ahead.
The Rhythm Sharks are also going their separate ways, ending a year-and-a-half run on area stages. The band members are pursuing new projects and endeavors. Guitarist/singer Kayla Feaster has joined a new Gallitzin-based rock band called Root and the Fifths. The Rhythm Sharks played their swan song performance on Sunday afternoon at the Kids Come First Benefit at the Cresson Sportsmen’s Club.
Cabinet has been announced as the headliners of next month’s annual Wang Dang Doodle Music Festival and Car Cruise in Johnstown. This year’s event happens on Sunday afternoon, September 15 near Roxbury Park in Johnstown. The music will start at noon, and feature performances from headliners Cabinet, along with Pittsburgh’s Old E Allstars, Dave Distefano & Friends, the Justin Garman Trio, The Crew of the Half Moon, Todd Homan and Glenn Henry. There will also be a car cruise beginning at 3 p.m., a live animal show from Wild World of Animals, children’s activities and more. Admission to the event is free.
