A western Pennsylvania blues group did well at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis this past week. Pittsburgh’s Billy the Kid and the Regulators, winners of last year’s Pittsburgh Blues Challenge and representatives of the Western PA Blues Society, finished third in the International Blues Challenge. Billy the Kid and the Regulators vied against a record 255 acts from 40 states and 16 countries en route to their finish, achieving prizes and recognition for being one of the top independent blues acts in the world. The group will celebrate their victory with a show at the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh this Friday night.

Anticipation continues to grow for the 18th annual Millennium Music Conference. The event will take place next month, from February 20-23, at a new location, the Best Western Premier, Central Hotel and Convention Center in Harrisburg. Again Millennium will feature two days of the music business conference and trade show with various speakers, panels, seminars and mentoring sessions, plus three nights of live music showcases featuring some 250 different bands and artists, some from international locations.
