Another change in crew has occurred with area party rockers Flight 19. The group has parted ways with singer/bassist Denny Frank, and Rogan Allen takes over bass duties on the “Party Plane.” Rogan made his debut aboard the Flight 19 “Party Plane” Friday night at the annual Mac’s Irish Bash at Altoona’s Jaffa Shrine.

A benefit show to help out an area breast cancer patient will take place next Saturday night at Pellegrine’s. The “Raising Money for Sue” benefit will raise money for Sue Kies, and will start at 6 p.m. Performers donating their time and talents next Saturday include Lucky Lad Green, Root and the Fifths, The Sitch, Stone Bridge Blues Band, Without A Cause and the Backyard Rockers. Donation at the door will be $5 per person. Tommy Edwards and yours truly of Rocky 104.9 will be emceeing that event, next Saturday at Pellegrine’s.

Also next Saturday night, The Supermom Benefit will happen at the Tyrone American Legion to help out Jessica Conrad Finochio, who suffered serious back injuries in a late December auto accident. The Jam, Nobody’s Heroes and Pat McGinnis & Chuck Knepper will perform. The show will start at 7 p.m., and there will be basket giveaways and a Chinese auction. Tickets are $6.00 or two for $10.00 and can be purchased at JC’s Barber Shoppe in Tyrone or Allied On-Guard Protective Services in Altoona.

City Hotel in Northern Cambria will soon start their fifth annual “Battle of the Acoustics” competition. The competition will take place on consecutive Thursday nights starting March 27 and lasting through early May, as acoustic-geared groups will show their stuff during the preliminary rounds, with winners from each night moving on to semifinal and final round competition, with prizes for the top three performers. The winning performer will receive a guest appearance on the “Homegrown Rocker” later this spring. Partial proceeds from “Battle of the Acoustics” will help out youth sports organizations in the Northern Cambria area. Acoustic performers interested in entering this year’s battle are invited to contact the City Hotel.
