This year’s second annual Striking Chords Against Cancer benefit concert for the American Cancer Society happens next Saturday, June 8 at Altoona’s Railroaders Museum. The event will start at 2 p.m., and will feature performances from Travis Singer, 7th Gear, Matt Wagner, The Hope Fallacy, Jackson Monsour, Pistol Peg & the Beer Kegs, Ryan Matthew, Flight 19, Drew Dodson and Chris Vipond & the Stanley Street Band. Advance tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the American Cancer Society and the Altoona Giant Eagle location. Rocky 104.9 air personalities will be emceeing the concert.

Two area bands are returning from brief retirements. Formerly based in Altoona but now calling Pittsburgh their home base, The Lampshades have reformed and are performing on the Pittsburgh indie scene, and are planning return visits to central Pennsylvania.

And after a two-year retirement, This Calling has announced that they are returning to action on central Pennsylvania stages.
