Two members of Altoona rock band legends The Front are embarking on a new musical endeavor. Singer Bob Gates and guitarist John McKelvey explore acoustic frontiers in their new project, Dreadnot, which made its official debut Sunday evening at Family Pizza in Altoona. The pair will do a variety of classic rock favorites and introduce new original song material. Both musicians and drummer Skip Fisher have completed work on a full-length debut CD from their new band project MFG; that album will be released shortly.

The ever-prolific Ted McCloskey is at it again. Ted has just unveiled his eighth solo album, Sea Foam Green. Ted officially christened the album’s release during his performance with his band, the Hi Fi’s, on Saturday night at the Central PA Festival of the Arts in State College and a post-party at Bar Bleu. Listen for tracks from the new album in coming weeks on the “Homegrown Rocker.”

A change of bass players for Altoona rockers Half Tempted, as Jim Ricotta has departed the group and his predecessor, Joe George, has returned to the roster. Joe made his official return with Half Tempted this past Friday night at Altoona’s Railroaders Museum when the group opened for Metallica tribute The Four Horsemen.
