CONVICTED KILLER LOSES ARGUMENT

WILLIAM THOMPSON OF ALTOONA IS SERVING LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE FOR THE 2002 STABBING DEATHS OF RAYMOND AND MARJORIE BRACKEN…AND NOW THE ALTOONA MIRROR REPORTS THATBLAIR COUNTY JUDGE HIRAM CARPENTER HAS REFUSED THOMPSON’S REQUEST FOR D-N-A TESTING ON SEVERAL KNIVES FOUND IN THE HOME AND THE SURROUNDING AREA. CARPENTER’S RULING SAYS – QUOTE – WE BELIEVE THE REQUEST IS SIMPLY A FISHING EXPEDITION WITH NO HOPE OF LANDING ANY FISH.” THOMPSON ADMITS HE WAS IN THE BRACKEN’S HOME THAT NIGHT, BUT CLAIMS SOMEONE ELSE KILLED THEM. THOMPSON IS ALSO APPEALING BASED ON INADEQUATE COUNSEL AND THE JUDGE WILL HOLD A STATUS CONFERENCE ON THAT ISSUE SEPTEMBER 11TH.

SENTENCING IS SCHEDULED TODAY IN CENTRE COUNTY COURT FOR SERIAL FLASHER 34 YEAR OLD RYAN HO OF STATE COLLEGE WHO WAS FOUND GUILTY ON ALL COUNTS BACK IN JUNE. THE TAIWAN NATIVE WAS CHARGED WITH ENTERING THE HOMES, APARTMENTS, AND DORM ROOMS OF AT LEAST 16 WOMEN…EXPOSING AND TOUCHING HIMSELF…AND GROPING SOME OF THE WOMEN. ALL BETWEEN AUGUST OF 2009 AND LAST MAY. HO WAS NOT ABLE TO EXPLAIN WHY HIS DNA WAS FOUND AT ONE CRIME SCENE OR WHY HE HAD A SKI MASK AND OTHER ITEMS IN HIS POSSESSION WHEN HE WAS ARRESTED.

TRACTOR TRAILERS COLLIDE

THE WESTBOUND LANES OF I-80 IN CLEARFIELD COUNTY WERE CLOSED MOST OF YESTERDAY AFTER 2 TRACTOR-TRAILERS CRASHED AROUND 4:30AM NEAR THE PENFIELD EXIT. POLICE SAY ONE TRUCK BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION AND IT STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. A SECOND RIG REAR-ENDED IT AND 55 YEAR OLD EDDIE COURTNEY JUNIOR OF CHICAGO WAS TRAPPED INSIDE. A WITNESS PULLED HIM OUT THROUGH THE ROOF JUST BEFORE BOTH TRAILERS BURST INTO FLAMES. COURTNEY WAS FLOWN TO ALTOONA REGIONAL TRAUMA CENTER WITH MAJOR INJURIES. THE OTHER DRIVER IS LOOKING AT SEVERAL CITATIONS.

ALTOONA REGIONAL HEALTH SYSTEM AND NASON HOSPITAL IN ROARING SPRING HAVE ANNOUNCED THAT THEIR BOARDS OF DIRECTORS HAVE SIGNED A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING TO DEVELOP AN INTEGRATED, COUNTYWIDE HEALTH SYSTEM TO SERVE BLAIR COUNTY AND THE SURROUNDING AREA.
