EVANGELIST GUILTY

TRAVELING EVANGELIST WALTER BRADSHAW TOOK THE STAND YESTERDAY AT HIS BEDFORD COUNTY RAPE TRIAL AND DENIED RAPING A YOUNG GIRL IN THE JANEY LYNN MOTEL IN 2009. THE JURY DIDN’T BUY HIS STORY AND CONVICTED THE 63 YEAR OLD ON 22 OF 24 COUNTS AGAINST HIM. SENTENCING HAS NOT YET BEEN SCHEDULED. FIRST, BRADSHAW WILL BE EVALUATED BY THE PENNSYVLANIA SEXUAL OFFENDERS ASSESSMENT BOARD. THE GIRL’S MOTHER IS SERVING 2 TO 5 YEARS IN PRISON AFTER PLEADING GUILTY TO REDUCED CHARGES.

SANDUSKY SCANDAL

PENN STATE ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY THAT THE UNIVERSITY WILL HIRE THE LAW FIRM OF FEINBERG ROZEN TO HELP SETTLE THE LAWSUITS FILED BY JERRY SANDUSKY’S VICTIMS. KEN FEINBERG HAS HANDLED SOME OF THE BIGGEST CIVIL SETTLEMENTS EVER INCLUDING THOSE FOR FAMILIES OF 9/11...THE VIRGINIA TECH MASSACRE…AND THE BP OIL SPILL. PRESIDENT RODNEY ERICKSON SAYS – QUOTE – “WE HOPE TO ENABLE A PROCESS THAT WILL RESULT IN SETTLEMENT OF MANY OF THE CIVIL CASES SO THAT THE VICTIMS WILL NOT HAVE TO BE DRAWN THROUGH LEGAL PROCESS.” PENN STATE HOPES TO SETTLE ALL LAWSUITS OR POTENTIAL LAWSUITS BY THE END OF THE YEAR.

PENN STATERS FOR RESPONSIBLE STEWARDSHIP TELLS THE CENTRE DAILY TIMES THE BILLBOARD IS ONE OF 10 THAT WENT UP AND THEY WERE PAID FOR BY AN ALUMNUS WHO ISN’T A LETTERMAN AND DOESN’T WANT TO BE IDENTIFIED. A SPOKESPERSON SAYS THAT GRADUATE ATTENDED THE FIRST HOME FOOTBALL GAME OF THE SEASON AND WITNESSED WHAT APPEARED TO BE THE UNIVERSITY’S SYSTEMATIC REMOVAL OF ALL EVIDENCE OF JOE PATERNO’S 61 YEARS OF CONTRIBUTIONS TO PENN STATE.

FOOT FETISH

CONEMAUGH TOWNSHIP SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER BRIAN EPPLEY RESIGNED LAST MONTH AFTER POLICE CHARGED HIM WITH CORRUPTION OF MINORS FOR REPEATEDLY TAKING A BOY INTO A ROOM AT THE CHURCH OF THE BRETHERN IN DAVIDSVILLE…MAKING HIM TAKE OFF HIS SHOES…AND PUT HIS FEET IN EPPLEY’S FACE. POLICE SAY THE INCIDENTS ALSO HAPPENED AT OTHER LOCATIONS…AND YESTERDAY, THEY FILED ADDITIONAL CHARGES AGAINST THE 56-YEAR OLD EPPLEY INVOLVING 2 OTHER ALLEGED VICTIMS. EPPLEY ALSO REPORTEDLY TRACED ONE OF THE BOY’S FEET. HE IS FREE ON BOND.

MURDER TRIAL IN JANUARY

A CAMBRIA COUNTY JUDGE YESTERDAY SET JANUARY 7TH AS THE DATE FOR JURY SELECTION TO BEGIN IN THE MURDER TRIAL OF MARQUIS NEAL AND HIS COUSIN ANTHONY HARVEY OF PHILADELPHIA. THEY ARE CHARGED IN THE OCTOBER SHOOTING DEATH OF J-QUAN LEWIS OUTSIDE THE OAKHURST HOMES. THE JUDGE DID NOT RULE YET ON A DEFENSE MOTION FOR SEPARATE TRIALS. POLICE SAY NEAL WAS THE GUNMAN AND HARVEY DROVE THE GETAWAY VAN.

SCHOOL BUS & PICKUP COLLIDE

10 ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS WERE CHECKED OUT AT THE HOSPITAL AFTER A BUS CRASH YESTERDAY MORNING IN JACKSON TOWNSHIP, CAMBRIA COUNTY. POLICE SAY 45 YEAR OLD GLENN COPOSKY PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF THE BUS AT THE INTERSECTION OF ROUTE 271 AND ADAMS AVENUE.
COPOSKY HAD TO BE CUT OUT OF HIS TRUCK AND HE WILL FACE A NUMBER OF TRAFFIC CITATIONS. HE TOLD POLICE THE SUN WAS IN HIS EYES.

HOUSE UP IN FLAMES

FIRE DESTROYED THE HISTORIC HOME OF DR. ANTHONY GERGELY ON NAPOLEON STREET IN JOHNSTOWN LAST NIGHT. HE WASN’T THERE AT THE TIME, BUT HAD SPENT THE PAST 4 YEARS RESTORING THE 3-STORY HOUSE. NO WORD YET ON THE CAUSE OF THE BLAZE.

STATE REPRESENTATIVE POCKETS CASH

DEMOCRATIC STATE REPRESENTATIVE GARY HALUSKA OF CAMBRIA COUNTY IS ON THE HOT SEAT AFTER STATE CAMPAIGN FINANCE RECORDS SHOWED THAT HE HAS PAID HIMSELF 16-THOUSAND DOLLARS IN CAMPAIGN MONEY SINCE 2009 BY RENTING A CAMPAIGN OFFICE IN A BUILDING HE OWNS ON PARK AVENUE IN PATTON. EXPERTS TELL THE TRIBUNE DEMOCRAT THIS IS NOT AGAINST STATE LAW, BUT IT IS AWKWARD. HALUSKA TOLD THE P-A INDEPENDENT THAT HE DOESN’T SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE ARRANGEMENT SINCE HIS AUTOMOTIVE SHOP IS ACROSS THE STREET, SO HAVING HIS CAMPAIGN HEADQUARTERED THERE MAKES SENSE. HALUSKA IS CURRENTLY SEEKING RE-ELECTION TO A 10TH TERM.

JURY DUTY PRANK

IF YOU GET A CALL SAYING YOU’VE MISSED JURY DUTY, DON’T PANIC. THE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE OF PENNSYLVANIA COURTS SAYS SOMEONE IS MAKING CALLS AND SENDING TEXTS TELLING PEOPLE THEIR NAMES APPEAR IN THE LOCAL NEWSPAPER FOR FAILING TO APPEAR. THEY ARE INSTRUCTED TO CALL A PHONE NUMBER WHERE A RECORDED MESSAGE TELLS THEM THEY ARE FACING A FINE OR JAIL TIME. THEN THE MESSAGE SAYS IT’S JUST A PRANK. ANYONE WITH QUESTIONS ABOUT JURY DUTY SHOULD CALL THEIR LOCAL COURT ADMINISTRATOR’S OFFICE.

NO BOOKS ON SATURDAY

THE ALTOONA AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY WILL BE CLOSED TOMORROW DUE TO A POWER SHUT OFF FOR SYSTEMS MAINTENANCE PURPOSES ON THE ALTOONA AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT CAMPUS. OFFICIALS SAY THE LIBRARY WILL RE-OPEN MONDAY AT 9AM.
