SANDUSKY SCANDAL

BECAUSE ENOUGH NOTICE WASN’T GIVEN ABOUT A PUBLIC MEETING, PENN STATE'S BOARD OF TRUSTEES LAST NIGHT DID NOT TAKE A FORMAL VOTE ON WHETHER UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT RODNEY ERICKSON HAD THE AUTHORITY TO ACCEPT THE HARSH NCAA SANCTIONS, BUT NOW THE VAST MAJORITY OF MEMBERS HAVE VOICED SUPPORT FOR ERICKSON. BOARD CHAIRWOMAN KAREN PEETZ TOLD FELLOW MEMBERS THAT TRUSTEE RYAN MCCOMBIE HAS NOW INDICATED THAT HE HAS INSTRUCTED HIS LAWYER TO REFRAIN FROM TAKING ANY FURTHER ACTION ON AN APPEAL, SO A FORMAL VOTE MAY NOT BE NECESSARY. PEETZ ALSO SAID PRESIDENT ERICKSON'S LEADERSHIP THROUGHOUT THIS EXTRAORDINARILY DIFFICULT TIME HAS BEEN INVALUABLE AND IS GREATLY APPRECIATED BY EVERY MEMBER OF THE BOARD.

THE F-B-I AND U.S. POSTAL INSPECTORS ARE NOW INVESTIGATING THE POSSIBILITY OF A CHILD SEX ABUSE RING CONNECTED TO JERRY SANDUSKY. ONE MAN CLAIMS HE WAS REPEATEDLY ABUSED AS A CHILD BY A PROMINENT PHILADELPHIA BUSINESSMAN, WHO ENCOURAGED HIM, AND SEVERAL OTHER BOYS, TO VISIT SANDUSKY IN STATE COLLEGE AND “BECOME PART OF THE SECOND MILE FAMILY”.  SOURCES SAY AGENTS ARE ALSO LOOKING INTO THE POSSIBILITY THAT SANDUSKY USED THE POSTAL SERVICE TO MAIL SEDUCTIVE, SUGGESTIVE LETTERS TO HIS VICTIMS…AND THE POSSIBILITY THAT HE MAY HAVE MAILED AND SWAPPED CHILD PORNOGRAPHY.

FORMER PENN STATE VICE PRESIDENT GARY SCHULTZ IS ASKING A JUDGE TO LET HIM HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION PERTAINING TO HIM IN THE FREEH REPORT. SCHULTZ AND FORMER ATHLETIC DIRECTOR TIM CURLEY ARE AWAITING TRIAL ON CHARGES OF PERJURY AND FAILURE TO REPORT SANDUSKY’S CHILD MOLESTATION. SCHULTZ THINKS THE FREEH REPORT MADE AT LEAST ONE MISTAKE CONCERNING HIM AND THERE MAY BE MORE POTENTIALLY-INACCURATE INFORMATION. SCHULTZ ALSO THINKS THE FREEH REPORT COULD TAINT THE JURY POOL. PRE-TRIAL ARGUMENTS ARE SCHEDULED THURSDAY IN HARRISBURG.  REPORTERS WITH CREDENTIALS CAN ENTER THE COURTROOM STARTING AT 8AM AND GENERAL PUBLIC AT 8:30 ON A FIRST COME FIRST, SERVE BASIS. ARGUMENTS ARE SCHEDULED TO BEGIN AT 9. THE JUDGE SAYS REPORTERS CAN USE LAPTOPS AND SMART-PHONES TO TAKE NOTES, BUT THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SEND ANY INFORMATION WHILE COURT IS IN SESSION.

SCAM ARTISTS MAKING CALLS

STATE POLICE HAVE ISSUED A COMMUNITY AWARENESS BULLETIN CONCERNED A UTILITY SCAM.
