SANDUSKY TRIAL

JERRY SANDUSKY’S DEFENSE ATTORNEY JOE AMENDOLA IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN PRESENTING HIS CASE TODAY. AMENDOLA HAS SAID HE DOESN’T BELIEVE HE WILL HAVE MORE THAN 2 OR 3 DAYS WORTH OF WITNESSES AND HE DOESN’T PLAN TO RE-CALL ANY OF THE ALLEGED VICTIMS. THERE IS A GOOD POSSIBLITY THAT SANDUSKY COULD TAKE THE STAND IN HIS OWN DEFENSE. HE WAS REPORTEDLY EXAMINED BY THE PROSECUTION’S MENTAL HEALTH EXPERTS YESTERDAY. THE DEFENSE SAYS THE FORMER COACH SUFFERS FROM HISTRIONIC PERSONALITY DISORDER. ACCORDING TO THE MEDICAL DICTIONARY, THOSE WITH THE DISORDER ARE OVERLY DRAMATIC AND EMOTIONAL, ACT OVERLY SEDUCTIVE, AND ARE CONSTANTLY SEEKING APPROVAL.

ANOTHER BIG TRIAL IN BELLEFONTE

CENTRE COUNTY SHERIFF DENNY NAU SAYS THERE WILL BE A BIGGER POLICE PRESENCE IN BELLEFONTE THIS WEEK WHILE 2 HIGH PROFILE TRIALS ARE UNDERWAY. MAKSIM ILLARIONOV, DIMITRIY LITVINOV AND ANATOLIY VERETNOV WILL BE AT THE COURTHOUSE ANNEX AND NAU SAYS AGENCIES FROM THROUGHOUT CENTRE COUNTY WILL OFFER ASSISTANCE WITH SECURITY, AS WELL AS HELP FROM THE WILLIAMSPORT AREA. AUTHORITIES SAY LITVINOV RECENTLY TOLD A CELLMATE THAT HE PLANS ON SHOOTING UP THE COURTROOM AND KILLING THE JUDGE, DISTRICT ATTORNEY, AND 2 DEPUTY SHERIFFS.

FATAL WRECKS

A MUNCY MAN WAS KILLED SATURDAY EVENING WHEN HE CRASHED HIS A-T-V ON LAUREL ROAD IN BOGGS TOWNSHIP, CENTRE COUNTY. POLICE SAY 53 YEAR OLD ROBERT NAUGLE WAS NOT WEARING A HELMET WHILE HE WAS RIDING ON A DIRT ROAD ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. THE A-T-V STRUCK 3 TREES AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED.

2 MILL HALL MEN ARE DEAD AFTER WRECKS IN CLINTON COUNTY SATURDAY NIGHT. AROUND 9PM, 41 YEAR OLD KEITH QUIGGLE CRASHED HIS MOTORCYCLE ON AN ON-RAMP GETTING ON TO STATE ROUTE 220 IN LOCK HAVEN. QUIGGLE WAS NOT WEARING A HELMET.

THEN JUST BEFORE MIDNIGHT, 32 YEAR OLD ANTHONY WEHRMAN CRASHED HIS CAR ON THE 14-HUNDRED BLOCK OF LUSK RUN ROAD IN ALLISON TOWNSHIP. HE HIT 2 PARKED CARS, THEN A TREE.

SANTORUM CRITICIZES OBAMA

FORMER PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE RICK SANTORUM IS CRITICIZING PRESIDENT OBAMA FOR WHAT HE CALLS A “HABITUAL ABUSE OF POWER.” SANTORUM MADE THE COMMENT ON CNN'S "STATE OF THE UNION" AFTER THE WHITE HOUSE UNVEILED A CHANGE OF IMMIGRATION POLICY. IT WILL NOW STOP REFERRING YOUNG ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS TO DEPORTATION PROCEEDINGS. SANTORUM SAID IT’S NOT THE JOB OF THE PRESIDENT TO PICK AND CHOOSE WHAT LAWS TO ENFORCE.  

CORBETT FOR VICE PRESIDENT?

GOVERNOR TOM CORBETT IS MAKING IT CLEAR THAT HE DOESN'T WANT TO BE CONSIDERED AS A RUNNING MATE FOR MITT ROMNEY. CORBETT TOLD ABC NEWS SATURDAY THAT HE'S BUSY WITH BEING A FIRST-TERM GOVERNOR, ADDING THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER MORE LIKELY NOMINEES. CORBETT SAYS SEVERAL OF HIS FELLOW GOVERNORS WOULD MAKE GOOD VICE PRESIDENTS, INCLUDING MITCH DANIELS OF INDIANA AND BOB MCDONNELL OF VIRGINIA.
