JOHNSTOWN SHOOTING INVESTIGATING
JOHNSTOWN Police HAVE RELEASED THE NAMES OF 2 PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THE HORNERSTOWN SHOOTING MONDAY NIGHT ALONG MESSENGER STREET. 17 YEAR OLD Derik Carothers and 25 YEAR OLD Daron Shamburger are in the Cambria County prison oN warrants, BUT No one has been charged yet IN CONNECTION WITH the shooting. Carothers was on house arrest and slipped out of his ankle bracelet from a Park Avenue home before the INCIDENT. BOTH HE and Shamburger were shot AND WENT TO PITTSBURGH HOSPITALS FOR TREATMENT. THE 2 OTHER MEN WHO WERE SHOT WENT TO MEMORIAL MEDICAL CENTER IN JOHNSTOWN. only one of them is still in the hospital. POLICE HAVE NOT RELEASED THEIR NAMES.

37 YEAR OLD CHRISTOPHER LION OF ALTOONA WAS FLOWN TO ALTOONA REGIONAL TRAUMA CENTER EARLY SUNDAY MORNING FOLLOWING A CRASH ALONG ROUTE 40-27 IN SNYDER TOWNSHIP, BLAIR COUNTY. STATE POLICE SAY LION WAS NOT WEARING A SEATBELT WHEN HIS CAR SWERVED OUT OF CONTROL, SLID INTO A PARKING LOT, AND STRUCK A PARKED CAR, PUSHING IT INTO A CONCRETE LIGHT POLE. LION WILL BE CITED FOR SPEEDING.
55 YEAR OLD RICHARD SWOPE OF BELLEFONTE SPENT THE WEEKEND in THE CENTRE COUNTY jail after allegedly leading police on a chase before crashing. State Police were called to a disturbance involving a man and a woman on Gorton Road in Snow Shoe Township Friday EVENING. Swope fled In his car AND eventually Crashed into a road sign. Police say Swope was ALSO involved in an earlier hit and run involving 2 other vehicles along Gorton Road. Swope is ALSO charged with D-U-I and resisting arrest.
PennDOT officials say that I-81 will be closed at the exit 67 exchange until tomorrow morning's commute. Crews worked all weekend to remove massive chunks of the burnt-out Route 22/322 inbound bridge. A fuel tanker rolled over and exploded Thursday morning, causing tens of millions in damage.

police officers who biked from pennsylvania, new jersey, and virginia as part of “the police unity tour” arrived at the national law enforcement memorial in washington d-c yesterday to mark the start of national police week. a candlelight vigil will be held tonight to remember 321 officers who names were inscribed on the memorial this year. 120 officers, including 5 from pennsylvania, lost their lives in the line of duty last year.

CONTROLLER BURN AT PENN STATE
don’t be alarmed If you see smoke above the Penn State Arboretum this morning. Starting at 9:30, the university will do a prescribed burn on 5 acres near Big Hollow and Tower Roads in College Township. This type of burn is used to manage invasive species, promote vegetation, and eliminate brush that could cause a forest fire.
WORK BEGINS ON NITTANY LION
A POPULAR TOURIST DESTINATION ON THE PENN STATE –UNIVERSITY PARK CAMPUS IS GETTING A MAKE OVER. CONSTRUCTION CREWS WILL BEGIN WORK ON THE NITTANY LION SHRINE TODAY. WORKERS WILL IMPROVE BOTH THE LAND AREA AROUND THE SHRINE AND THE LIGHTING. THE WORK IS PART OF THE PENN STATE CLASS OF 2012’S SENIOR GIFT. THE PROJECT SHOULD BE COMPLETED BY SEPTEMBER 6TH.
