ANOTHER FIRE IN BELLEFONTE

FIRE CREWS HAVE CONTAINED ANOTHER BLAZE IN DOWNTOWN BELLEFONTE. THIS ONE BROKE OUT SHORTLY AFTER 4AM BEHIND THE DOLLAR GENERAL STORE ALONG SOUTH SPRING STREET. NO WORD YET ON ANY INJURIES.

WIFE SAYS SHE DIDN’T DO IT

ALTOONA POLICE ARE NOW INVESTIGTING THE DEATH OF 64 YEAR OLD CHARLES DENNY JUNIOR AS A HOMICIDE. THE TYRONE MAN DIED OF AN ANTI-DEPRESSANT OVERDOSE IN THE INTENSIVE CARE UNIT AT ALTOONA REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER IN JULY 2011. DENNY’S WIFE, MARY ANN, SAYS POLICE FOUND A SYRINGE IN THE ROOM THAT DID NOT BELONG TO THE HOSPITAL. SHE ALSO SAYS A NURSE WOULD FREQUENTLY COME INTO THE ROOM AND GIVE DENNY SHOTS AFTER CALLING HIM BY A DIFFERENT NAME. NO COMMENT FROM THE BLAIR COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE. MARY ANN TELLS WTAJ NEWS THAT SOME PEOPLE SUSPECT SHE KILLED HER HUSBAND FOR MONEY, BUT SHE DENIES IT. DENNY’S SON, ADAM, SAYS HIS FATHER TOLD THE DOCTORS HIS WIFE WAS TRYING TO KILL HIM.

MISSING MAN’S BODY FOUND

A BODY HAS BEEN FOUND IN SOMERSET COUNTY AND STATE POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING, BUT DON’T SUSPECT FOUL PLAY. 49 YEAR OLD ROBERT SCHWEERS OF BUFFALO NEW YORK WENT MISSING AROUND SEPTMEBER 10TH AND HIS BODY WAS DISCOVERED IN A REMOTE LOCATION IN JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP.
AUTHORITIES THINK HE DIED SOMETIME BETWEEN THE 15TH AND THE 22ND.

WIFE POINTS THE FINGER AT HUSBAND

39 YEAR OLD DION WILT OF JOHNSTOWN SPENT THE WEEKEND IN THE CAMBRIA COUNTY JAIL ON 350-THOUSAND DOLLAR BAIL. WILT IS ALSO A SUSPECT IN AN ARMED HOLDUP AT FIRST NATIONAL BANK IN DAVIDSVILLE, SOMERSET COUNTY, ON SEPTEMBER 10TH. AND POLICE THINK HE MAY BE THE MAN WHO ROBBED A JOHNSTOWN NEWSTAND IN LATE AUGUST.

JOHNSTOWN ARMED ROBBERY

A LATE NIGHT ARMED ROBBERY AT A JOHNSTOWN CONVENIENCE STORE. POLICE SAY A MAN WITH A KNIFE THREATENED A CLERK AT ABOUT MIDNIGHT AT THE A-PLUS STORE IN THE MORRELLVILLE SECTION OF THE CITY. IT’S NOT KNOWN IF THE SUSPECT GOT AWAY WITH ANY MONEY.

D-U-I ARRESTS

THE CAMBRIA COUNTY D-U-I TASK FORCE MADE 10 DRUNK DRIVING ARRESTS DURING A CHECKPOINT FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING ALONG FRANKLIN STREET IN JOHNSTOWN. COPS ALSO MADE 2 DRUG ARRESTS AND ISSUED 24 CITATIONS. OFFICERS SPOTTED A GUN IN ONE OF THE CARS GOING THROUGH THE CHECKPOINT.

19 YEAR OLD DREW KOTZUR OF PLEASANT GAP IS IN THE CENTRE COUNTY PRISON AFTER HE LED POLICE ON A 30-MILE HIGH SPEED CHASE SATURDAY NIGHT. STATE TROOPERS SAY KOTZUR REFUSED TO PULL OVER AND SPED THROUGH HOWARD AND BELLEFONTE BOROUGHS AND A NUMBER OF OTHER TOWNSHIPS FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES. OFFICERS EVENTUALLY USED A STOPPING MANEUVER TO CAUSE KOTZUR TO LOSE CONTROL. KOTZUR WAS DRIVING DRUNK AND WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE.

CLOSING STATE POLICE BARRACKS?

ANOTHER MEETING WILL BE HELD TONIGHT TO TALK ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF THE STATE POLICE BARRACKS IN PHILIPSBURG CLOSING ITS DOORS. THE PRESIDENT OF THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE TROOPERS ASSOCIATION WILL BE AT THE MEETING TO DISCUSS THE IMPACT THE CURRENT STAFF SHORTAGE HAS HAD ON PUBLIC SAFETY.
