FAMILY TRAGEDY IN CAMBRIA COUNTY

A WEEKEND TRAGEDY IN ASHVILLE, CAMBRIA COUNTY. 64 YEAR-OLD ROBERTA FREW…47 YEAR-OLD JOHN FREW JUNIOR…43 YEAR-OLD JOSEPHINE RUCKINGER…AND 43 YEAR-OLD JEFFREY RUCKINGER ALL DIED FRIDAY NIGHT AND POLICE HAVE NOW RELEASED THE DETAILS. POLICE SAY JOHN AND ROBERTA FREW HAD BEEN ESTRANGED FROM THEIR DAUGHTER, JOSEPHINE RUCKINGER, FOR ABOUT 20 YEARS. SHE AND HER HUSBAND, JEFFREY, KNOCKED ON THE DOOR AND SHOT HER MOTHER. JEFFREY THEN SHOT JOHN FREW JUNIOR. JOHN FREW SENIOR THEN GRABBED A GUN AND KILLED THE SHOOTERS. HE TOLD POLICE HE DIDN’T REALIZE IT WAS HIS DAUGHTER AND HER HUSBAND UNTIL IT WAS ALL OVER. POLICE FOUND A LARGE AMOUNT OF AMMUNITION, A GAS CAN, AND CHARCOAL LIGHTER FLUID INSIDE THE SUSPECTS’ CAR WHICH WAS PARKED OUTSIDE THE HOUSE. AUTHORITIES DO NOT KNOW OF A MOTIVE. THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES.

TROOPER STILL HOSPITALIZED

STATE TROOPER FIRST CLASS BRADLEY WILSON CONTINUES FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE AT A PITTSBURGH HOSPITAL AFTER BEING SHOT THURSDAY WHILE SERVING A DRUG WARRANT IN BROCKWAY, JEFFERSON COUNTY. 60 YEAR OLD KENNETH LEES OPENED FIRE WHEN COPS ARRIVED TO BUST HIS METH LAB. TROOPERS RETURNED FIRE, AND 12 HOUR STANDOFF BEGAN. WHEN POLICE ENTERED THE HOME, THEY FOUND LEES DEAD FROM A SELF-INFLICTED GUNSHOT.

D-U-I CRASH

21 YEAR-OLD GEORGE DANIEL OF HOUTZDALE WAS FLOWN TO UPMC ALTOONA AFTER A CRASH IN CLEARFIELD COUNTY SATURDAY NIGHT. STATE POLICE SAY DANIEL RAN A STOP SIGN AND HIT AN EMBANKMENT AT THE INTERSECTION OF ALBERT RUN ROAD AND OLD ERIE PIKE AROUND 10:30. DANIEL’S S-U-V CONTINUED INTO THE WOODS AND HIT A TREE. DANIEL WAS NOT WEARING HIS SEATBELT AND ALCOHOL IS BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN A FACTOR.

ARRESTS FOLLOW WILD COLLEGE PARTY

A LOGAN TOWNSHIP POLICE OFFICER WAS INJURED AND TAKEN TO UPMC ALTOONA AFTER COPS RAIDED A LARGE PARTY AT THE NITTANY POINTE APARTMENT COMPLEX NEAR PENN STATE ALTOONA SATURDAY EVENING. POLICE SAY A RIOT SITUATION DEVELOPED AFTER THE OUTDOOR BASH BECAME LOUD, UNRULY AND VIOLENT. AT LEAST A DOZEN STUDENTS WERE ARRESTED.

PIZZA MAN ROBBED

JOHNSTOWN POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A ROBBERY INVOLVING A PIZZA DELIVERY DRIVER SUNDAY NIGHT. IT HAPPENED ABOUT 9:30 ON LINDEN AVENUE WHEN THE DELIVERYMAN GOT TO AN ABANDONED HOUSE. 2 MEN THREATENED TO STAB HIM AND TOOK HIS CASH. THE VICTIM SAID HE DIDN’T SEE A KNIFE, BUT HE WAS ASSAULTED AND LEFT WITH A SWOLLEN EYE.
