DRUG ARRESTS

ANOTHER BIG HEROIN BUST IN ALTOONA. POLICE SEARCHED A RESIDENCE AT 27-18 WEST CHESTNUT AVENUE ON THE 2ND FLOOR AND FOUND 30 BRICKS OF HEROIN WITH A STREET VALUE OF ABOUT 40-THOUSAND DOLLARS. THEY ALSO SEIZED 3-THOUSAND DOLLARS IN CASH. 25 YEAR OLD LEANN GRAY IS IN THE BLAIR COUNTY PRISON FACING DRUG CHARGES. SHE WAS ALSO ON PAROLE AT THE TIME. BAIL IS SET AT 25-THOUSAND DOLLARS CASH AND A PRELIMINARY HEARING IS SCHEDULED NEXT WEDNESDAY.

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP POLICE ARRESTED 3 WANTED FUGITIVES AT THE HAMPTON INN OVER THE WEEKEND. EDWARDO RODRIGUEZ OF NEW YORK, DEVON DOZIER FROM PITTSBURGH, AND EDDIE DAVIS FROM PHILADELPHIA ALLEGEDLY FACE POLICE FAKE NAMES WHEN OFFICERS ARRIVED AFTER A REPORT OF A DISTURBANCE. POLICE SEARCHED THEIR ROOM AND FOUND HEROIN, CELLPHONES, AND OVER 4-THOUSAND DOLLARS IN CASH. MORE ARRESTS ARE POSSIBLE.

RESTAURANT OWNER BEHIND BARS

THE ALTOONA MIRROR REPORTS THAT SAMY EL MASRY…THE OWNER OF SAMBOLI’S RESTAURANT IN TYRONE…WAS ARRESTED YESTERDAY AND ACCUSED OF GROPING, KISSING, AND MAKING SEXUAL COMMENTS TOWARD 7 FORMER TEENAGE EMPLOYEES…BOTH MALE AND FEMALE. THE 62 YEAR OLD EL MASRY IS A NATIVE OF EQYPT, BUT HAS BEEN A U-S CITIZEN SINCE 1983. HE’S IN THE BLAIR COUNTY PRISON ON 35-THOUSAND DOLLARS CASH.

TEEN IS SAFE

STATE POLICE SAY A MISSING CLEARFIELD COUNTY TEEN IS BACK WITH HIS FAMILY. THEY ISSUED A MISSING PERSONS REPORT FOR 16 YEAR OLD PHILIP BROWN OF RADFORD TOWNSHIP SUNDAY. HE WAS FOUND SAFE ABOUT 5PM MONDAY.

IUP DRINKING HOLIDAY

INDIANA POLICE WERE KEPT BUSY DURING THIS WEEKEND’S I-U-PATTY’S DAY CELEBRATION. THIS WAS THE 3RD YEAR FOR THE UNOFFICIAL PARTY IN THE STREETS SURROUNDING THE CAMPUPS. COACH ASSAULTED

42 YEAR OLD ROBERT ZEIDERS OF TYRONE IS ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING HIS SON’S JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL COACH EARLIER THIS MONTH. ACCORDING TO THE ALTOONA MIRROR, DOUGLAS THOMAS SAYS HE SUFFERED A SHOULDER INJURY WHEN HE WAS SHOVED FOLLOWING AN AWAY GAME. ZEIDERS…WHO FACES A PRELIMINARY HEARING TODAY…WAS APPARENTLY UPSET OVER HIS SON’S INELIGIBILITY AND PREVIOUS LACK OF PLAYING TIME.

CONKLIN WON’T RUN FOR GOVERNOR

STATE REPRESENTATIVE SCOTT CONKLIN TELLS THE CENTRE DAILY TIMES HIS NAME WILL NOT APPEAR ON THE BALLOT FOR THE 2014 GOVERNOR’S RACE. THE DEADLINE FOR FILING PETITIONS FOR OFFICE IS TODAY. CONKLIN SAYS HE WILL FOCUS ON HIS HOUSE SEAT AND CURRENT PROJECTS. 7 OTHER DEMOCRATS HAVE ALREADY ANNOUNCED THEIR CANDIDACIES FOR THE POSITION. REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR TOM CORBETT IS LOOKING TO WIN RE-ELECTION.
