IN HUNTINGDON COUNTY TUESDAY MORNING, FIRE DEDSTROYED A MOBILE HOME IN SHIRLEY TOWNSHIP AND SPREAD TO SEVERAL SHEDS FILLED WITH LUMBER. BEFORE FIRE CREWS ARRIVED, THERE WERE MULTIPLE EXPLOSIONS DUE TO BARRELS FILLED WITH FUEL OIL. NO ONE WAS INJURED AND THE HOMEOWNER WAS NOT THERE WHEN THE FLAMES BROKE OUT.

A LIGHTNING BOLT MAY BE TO BLAME FOR AN ATTIC FIRE AT A HOUSE ON LONGFELLOW LANE OUTSIDE OF STATE COLLEGE. A NEIGHBOR DIALED 911 YESTERDAY AFTER SEEING SMOKE COMING FROM THE ROOF. THE OWNERS WERE NOT HOME AT THE TIME. A FIRE MARSHAL WILL INVESTIGATE.

JUDGE JOLENE KOPRIVA WILL HOLD A HEARING ON THE DEATH PENALTY QUESTION SOON…AND JURY SELECTION WILL BEGIN IN OCTOBER.

A PRELIMINARY HEARING IS SCHEDULED TODAY IN BEDFORD COUNTY FOR 44 YEAR OLD STEPHEN DUNKLE OF EVERETT WHO IS CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE. DISTRICT ATTORNEY BILL HIGGINS SAYS DUNKLE AND CRAIG SHOWALTER WERE GETTING HIGH LAST WEEK WHEN THEY ARGUED AND DUNKLE ALLEGEDLY SHOT THE OTHER MAN IN THE NECK AND LEG. WHEN POLICE SEARCHED THE HOME, THEY FOUND 10 OR 20 MARIJUANA PLANTS AND ABOUT 2 POUNDS OF POT. LATER THAT DAY, A SUSPICIOUS FIRE BROKE OUT AT THE HOUSE. SHOWALTER WAS TREATED AND RELEASED AT THE HOSPITAL. DUNKLE IS IN THE COUNTY JAIL.

THE PARENTS OF AN INMATE AT THE STATE PRISON IN CRESSON WHO KILLED HIMSELF ARE SUING STATE OFFICIALS INCLUDING THE FORMER SECRETARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS. THE SUIT, FILED YESTERDAY, SAYS AUTHORITIES MISHANDLED OR DIDN'T PAY ATTENTION TO BRANDON PALAKOVIC'S MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES AND HIS RIGHTS WERE VIOLATED. THE PRISON SHUT DOWN LAST YEAR.

MATT SANDUSKY SAT DOWN WITH OPRAH WINFREY RECENTLY TO TALK ABOUT THE SEXUAL ABUSE BY HIS ADOPTED FATHER, JERRY SANDUSKY. THEY BUTCHERED IT AND HID ITS REMAINS AROUND THE AREA.THEY ALSO GAVE BAGS OF MEAT TO OUT-OF-TOWN ACQUAINTANCES.
