PATERNO PENSION

STATE POLICE SAY HIS RIG CRASHED INTO A DRUMP TRUCK ON I-80 IN MARION TOWNSHIP LAST YEAR, KILLING 24 YEAR OLD KYLE ROYER OF CENTRE COUNTY. ESENBEL WAS DRIVING WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE. HE REMAINS JAILED ON 150-THOUSAND DOLLARS BAIL.

FORMER PENN STATE WRESTLER WILL STAND TRIAL

A BRIEF PRE-TRIAL HEARING WAS HELD YESTERDAY FOR FORMER PENN STATE WRESTLER ANDREW LONG WHO IS CHARGED WITH THE ATTEMPTED RAPE OF 55 YEAR OLD WOMAN…THE MOTHER OF ANOTHER STUDENT…LAST AUGUST. THE 22 YEAR OLD LONG HAS PLEADED NOT GUILTY AND HIS CASE IS SCHEDULED FOR JURY SELECTION ON JUNE 4TH. TRIAL IS EXPECTED TO LAST A DAY TO A DAY AND A HALF, BUT THE DATE HAS NOT BEEN SET. LONG LEFT THE WRESTLING TEAM FOLLOWING HIS ARREST.

HAPPY ENDING FOR MISSING AUTISTIC BOY

A 5 YEAR OLD AUTISTIC BOY IS SAFE AND SOUND AFTER DISAPPEARING FOR ABOUT 2-AND-A-HALF HOURS YESTERDAY MORNING IN FERGUSON TOWNSHIP, CENTRE COUNTY. TOWNSHIP POLICE…PENN STATE POLICE…MEMBERS OF THE CENTRE REGION EMERGENCY STRIKE TEAM AND NEIGHBORS SEARCHED THE ENTIRE AREA SURROUNDING THE PARK CREST TERRACE APARTMENTS. ONE NEIGHBOR RETURNED HOME AFTER RECEIVING A CODE RED TEXT MESSAGE AND SHE FOUND ROBERT EMEL PLAYING INSIDE HER APARTMENT.

ELDERLY MAN STILL MISSING

IT’S NOW BEEN MORE THAN 10 DAYS SINCE 82 YEAR OLD DAN VOYTKO DISAPPEARED IN JOHNSTOWN. HE LEFT HIS CORRINE STREET HOME ON FOOT MAY 11TH. POLICE DOGS WERE BROUGHT IN YESTERDAY TO SEARCH THE WOODED AREA BELOW OAKHURST HOMES AND OFFICERS HAVE ALSO CHECKED OUT THE VACANT HOMES IN THE WEST END AND ALONG THE RAILROAD TRACKS. VOYTKO WAS LAST SEEN WEARING BLUE JEANS, A BLUE SWEATSHIRT, A WHITE JACKET AND A TAN BALLCAP READING “ALASKA.”

BEER AT ANOTHER SUPERMARKET

THE GIANT SUPERMARKET IN STATE COLLEGE’S NORTHLAND CENTER WILL SOON BE ALLOWED TO SELL ALCOHOL. FERGUSON TOWNSHIP SUPERVISORS APPROVED A PROPOSAL TRANSFERRING AN EXISTING LIQUOR LICENSE FROM POTTER TOWNSHIP TO FERGUSON TOWNSHIP. GIANT PLANS TO CREATE A RESTAURANT AND CAFE SIMILAR TO THE ONES AT WEGMANS IN STATE COLLEGE AND GIANT EAGLE IN ALTOONA.

ALTOONA BRIDGES CLOSING FOR MONTHS

PRELIMINARY WORK IS BEGINNING THIS WEEK ON THE REHABILITATION OF THE JUNIATA 8TH STREET BRIDGES IN ALTOONA. THEY WILL BE CLOSED FOR 2-AND-A-HALF MONTHS AND TRAFFIC WILL BE DETOURED BEGINNING MONDAY, JUNE 11TH.
